Sacred Ceremony – Kambô

What is Kambo therapy?

Kambô, Cambo or Kambo is a purgatory medicine that resets our body and our mind and brings our spirit into realignment.

Kambo medicine is the poisonous liquid secretion from the back of the Giant Monkey Tree Frog or Phyllomedusa Bicolor, which lives in the Amazon rainforest in South America. Kambo therapy is also known as the jungle vaccination. Kambo medicine is facilitated in a shamanistic ritual of healing and has basically been around forever in the Amazon but is just starting to get attention here in Europe.

Kambo is a great teacher that force us to surrender and relax into uncomfortableness, to let go of what we are holding onto that’s no longer serving us. Afterwards, many people report a sense of calmness and relief.

What does Kambo do?

Kambo therapy cleanse both the physical and the energetic body and sharpens the senses. Parasites, bacteria and viral conditions are addressed, old trauma and other bad energies that have become stuck are loosened. Sepsis, borrelia, addiction, allergies, trauma, spinal problems (pain), intestinal problems, cleansing in general (especially recommended before Ayahuasca), anxiety, accumulation of metals/toxins and diabetes can be relieved or cured.

In South America, Kambo is very commonly used as a fertility treatment to reset relationship chemical imbalances.

It is anti-inflammatory and boosts and upgrades your natural immune system to efficiently deal with foreign objects in your physical body but also in your energetic system. As such Kambo can be considered when in need of releasing attached spirits and otherworldly possession as such it is an effective exorcism. Kambo also has a great effect on allergy and removes residue from our western vaccines and our unhealthy living. If you suffer from cardiovascular disease, the Kambo medicine also has a great effect on blood pressure as well as cholesterol, diabetes etc. Kambo is said to kill cancer cells if they are in their early stages.

When you’re living with a mental illness like depression or addiction, there are times you may think you would try anything to feel better. Traditional western treatments like prescription medicine or behavioral therapy don’t always work, may stop being effective or may even give severe side effects.
– In addition to sharpen one’s senses, sight and hearing Kambo can awaken your intuition and give your sixth sense a boost.

Benefits of Kambo therapy:
  • Addiction
  • Depression
  • Chronic pain
  • Bipolarity
  • Parkinson’s disease (rumored, lets try maybe)
  • Diabetes (additional test subjects, where are you)
  • Migraines
  • Blood circulation problems
  • Vascular insufficiency
  • Fever
  • Infections
  • Fertility issues
  • Any chemical or hormonal issue
NB! If you have dieted a plant, Kambo will reduce the connection and might even destroy the establish relationship whether it be Birch, Noya Rao, Bobinsana, Marusa or any other exotic or local plant.
The secretion from the Kambo frog contains a complex mixture of bioactive peptides, which are short chains of amino acids that can interact with various receptors and cells in the body and brain. These peptides have different functions and effects, ranging from antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory to analgesic and neurogenic. Here we list some of the scientific effects of these peptides on the human body, especially on the immune system, the cardiovascular system, the nervous system and the endocrine system.

Phyllomedusin – This peptide affects the salivary glands and the intestines, stimulating the secretion of fluids and helping to purge toxins from the body. It also has anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties, which can reduce allergic reactions and inflammation.

Phyllokinin – This peptide lowers blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels, which increases blood flow and oxygen delivery to the tissues. It also enhances the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, which is a layer of specialized cells that protects the brain from harmful substances. This may facilitate the transport of other peptides and nutrients to the brain, improving cognitive function and mood.

Phyllocaerulein – This peptide acts as a natural painkiller, relaxing the muscles and regulating body temperature. It also stimulates the pituitary gland and the adrenal cortex, which are responsible for producing hormones that regulate stress response, metabolism, growth, reproduction and sensory perception. This may increase physical and mental endurance, as well as enhance creativity and intuition.

Phyllolitorin – A peptide of the bombesin family that acts on the central and peripheral nervous system. This peptide stimulates the production of gastric acid and digestive enzymes, which improve digestion and nutrient absorption. It also relaxes the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, which can relieve cramps and spasms.

Dermorphin – This peptide is a potent opioid agonist, meaning that it binds to opioid receptors in the brain and mimics the effects of endorphins, which are natural painkillers and mood enhancers. Dermorphin is about 40 times more powerful than morphine, but it does not cause addiction or tolerance. It also has neuroprotective effects, preventing neuronal damage caused by oxidative stress or inflammation.

Tryptophyllines – These peptides have antimicrobial properties that inhibit the growth of various pathogens, such as Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. They also modulate the immune system, enhancing its ability to fight infections and tumors.

Deltorphin – This peptide is another opioid agonist, but it binds to a different subtype of opioid receptors than dermorphin. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as anticancer potential. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of glioma cells, which are a type of brain cancer.

Adenoregulin – A peptide of the dermaseptin family that interacts with adenosine receptors, which are involved in cellular energy metabolism and signaling. Adenoregulin increases the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, allowing other substances to enter the brain more easily. Adenoregulin is antimicrobial agents that have lethal effects against most bacteria, fungi, yeasts and protozoa. They also have anticancer activity, inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death) in various types of cancer cells. Moreover, they have neurotrophic effects, meaning that they promote the survival and growth of neurons. This may prevent or reverse neurodegenerative diseases and have therapeutic potential for neurological disorders such as depression, stroke, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.

As you can see, kambo contains a rich array of peptides that have remarkable effects on the human body. However, these effects are not without risks or side effects. Kambo is a powerful medicine that should be used with caution and respect, under the guidance of a qualified practitioner. Kambo is not a magic bullet or a cure-all, but rather a tool for healing and transformation that requires preparation, intention and integration.

What should I expect in a Kambo ceremony?

The facilitator heats up a sacred stick of wood, makes three or more burn marks on you, scrapes away the outermost layer of skin allowing Kambo access to the lymphatic system. The Kambo medicine is then placed onto the wound. After the session we seal the burns with Sangre de Drago as it is an antiseptic substance, rich in alkaloids, antibacterial and have antiviral traits effective for healing wounds and to minimize the scarring of the burn. After about three years the marks are undetectable.

The ceremony itself lasts approx. 45-60min if you are spiritually unclean and feels the effects strongly. A normal session lasts  20-30min. Kambo expresses itself by a high pulse, freezing, tears, shaking, sweating, palpitations, constriction in the throat, throbbing in the head, swelling in the head, diarrhea, vomiting and shivers. Subsequently as “realization”,  – it is often the energies that lead to a form of cleansing, i.e. inflammation out of the eyes, vomiting, etc.
In addition, one’s urge is removed and one’s addiction can be removed. For example, cravings for drugs, meat, cigarettes, sugar, etc.
As soon as the poison is removed you will feel the improvement and return to your normal self after a short duration of time.

Know symptoms of Kambo therapy:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Face swelling
  • Palpitations
  • Rapid pulse
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Stomachache
  • Tingling

Although Kambo is non-psychoactive, there are countless anecdotes of profound insight and physical and mental healing from the process.

How should I prepare for Kambo?

Fasting for a minimum of 6-10 hours preferably more before arrival. Bring a water bottle and wear loose and comfortable clothing.
I recommend stop eating after a healthy evening dinner the day before. Drink at least 1L of liquid during your morning to hydrate; preferably more and approx. 15min before ceremony it is advised to drink an additional liter. Hydrate yourself with water or herbal tea both with honey and salt added. Both come recommended or eat cassava soup if available. In the days before ceremony it is advised to eat clean that means avoiding alcohol, red meat, shellfish, dairy products, white sugar and spicy foods.

Preparation for Kambo is similar that of any entheogenic ceremony—it is important to eat clean; Try to avoid cheese, meat, shellfish and processed food in general, and spend some time thinking about your intentions. On the day of the ceremony, your stomach should be completely empty, so the practitioner will likely ask you to fast for at least 8 hours beforehand.

Avoid the following foods:
  • Chees and meat
  • Overripe fruits
  • Soybean products
  • Fermented foods like kimchee and sauerkraut
  • Alcohol
  • Nutritional supplements like protein powders
  • Shellfish
  • Chocolate (in large amounts)
  • Coffee (in large amounts)

There are restrictions on: Abstinence from drugs and other medical substances 40 hours in advance.
Preferably avoid foods high in spice, fat and sugar 24 hours in advance. Including caffeine and meat.
On the day it is recommended that one is well rested and has set an intention. The full session is about two hours.

How much does a ceremony cost?

Kambo can be facilitated in small groups or one-on-one. The price differs per person dependent on the number of participants and where ceremony is performed. Range is 444-1.111dkr depending on where the ceremony takes place. Up to 5 dots per person. Non refundable deposit of DKK 300 (payable at the conclusion of the agreement).

Who should do NOT do Kambo?

  • Pregnant or expecting mothers
  • Anyone currently breastfeeding
  • Have medical history of stroke, blood clots, aneurysms, DVT, Addison’s disease, any heart conditions or heart surgery
  • If you are taking low blood pressure medication, have had chemotherapy within the last month, are on immunosuppressants for organ transplantation
  • Anyone under 18 years of age

If you take western prescription medicine, we want to know what it is beforehand. Substances and alcohol should be avoided up to a week before. If you want rehab for drug addiction or the like, we want to know that too.

Be aware that

  • Kambo teach your body to eat botox (it is not dangerous but you will reduce the effects of this substance)
  • If you have taken Bufo 5-MeO-DMT recently (it is not dangerous but you might experience a slightly rougher ride)

To learn more about Kambô medicine from a seasoned master consider watching the video talk below by Benjamin Mudge.

There have been studies exploring the bioactive peptides in Kambo, which started as early as the 1960s, but these did not lead to new therapeutic principles being introduced clinically, largely due to issues like lack of patent protection. Research has primarily focused on the pharmacological effects of these peptides rather than clinical outcomes of Kambo therapy itself. Here is a documentary made to show the process of the Amazon frog poison ceremony from start to finish.

Where does it take place?

In the privacy of your own home (increased costs due to time and transportation), at our retreat center at Møn, or at our tipi in Herlev, Copenhagen.

We will guide you and correspond to you both before and after ceremony to ensure a good landing as well as a healthy integration of the experience.

In case further landing is required addition plant medicines and cleansing is offered: Soundhealing, Sananga, Rapé, Soplay, Aqua Florida etc.
